Sri Lanka have preponed the upcoming second Twenty20 International (T20I) against West Indies at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo by a day. The match, which was originally supposed to be held on Thursday, November 12, will now take place on Wednesday. The latest development comes after the original date has been marked as a National Day of Mourning, which forced Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to take the step and publish a release of the same on their website. Among the other developments, musical instruments will not be allowed to play inside the stadium during the course of the match, which will be West Indies’s last game in their tour of Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the visiting West Indian side prepare themselves for the first of the two T20Is at Pallekele on Monday. West Indies will look to make amends after struggling in the tour of Sri Lanka so far. The tourists earlier were whitewashed both the Test and the One-Day International (ODI) series 0-2 and 0-3 respectively.
Sri Lanka managed to complete a 3-0 whitewash of the ODI series with a 19-run win (Duckworth-Lewis method) in the final match at Pallekele. West Indies were bullied by the Sri Lankan attack for the most part as they finished on a score of 206 for 9 in 36 overs, with veteran all-rounder Marlon Samuels remaining unbeaten on 110 to prevent the side from catapulting to disaster.
