Sri Lanka‘s tour of Zimbabwe has been cancelled due to “issues facing Zimbabwe Cricket”, said Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga on Friday.

The sources in the SLC said the cancellation was because of the severe financial problems faced by the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).

The Sri Lankan cricket team was to travel to Zimbabwe in October for two Tests, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals.

The Tests were supposed to start from October 10, while the ODIs from October 26. The T20Is were scheduled to begin from November 2.

Sri Lankan cricket selectors had earlier also named a 25-member pool to select the different squads to tour the African nation.
