Pallekele: Mar 28, 2013
Buoyed by Tillakaratne Dilshan‘s fine century, Sri Lanka posted an imposing 302 for nine in the third One-Day International (ODI) at the Pallekele International Stadium.
Opening the batting along with Kusal Janith Perera (56), Dilshan hit 125 off 128 balls after sharing a 116-run opening stand. Dilshan’s knock was laced with 12 boundaries.
He then combined with Kumar Sangakkara (48) for a 87-run second-wicket stand to put Sri Lanka in the drivers seat. After Sangakkara’s dismissal in the 36th over, a flurry of wickets followed as the Lankans slipped from 203 for one to 238 for six.
Lahiru Thirimanne gave company to Dilshan for a while before the latter eventually perished to Shahadat Hossain to make it 263 for seven in the 47th over.
Thirimanne and Nuwan Kulasekara (11) then ensured that the Lankans got past the 300-run mark with some brisk hitting towards the end.
For Bangladesh, slow left-armer Abdur Razzak was the pick of the bowlers with five for 62.
Brief Scores: Sri Lanka 302 for 9 (Tillakaratne Dilshan 125, Kusal Perera 56; Abdur Razzak 5 for 62) vs Bangladesh
