Chris Jordan took five wickets as Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 67 in the third one-day international against England at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Sri Lanka’s collapse came just days after they had themselves dismissed England for 99 in the second ODI at Chester-le-Street on Sunday.

Their total was Sri Lanka’s third lowest in one-day internationals and their worst in England, after they were previously bowled out for 86 as a then non-Test nation by the West Indies, also at Old Trafford, during the 1975 World Cup.

Sri Lanka’s previous worst against England was the 99 they made in Perth in 1999.

Pace bowling all-rounder Jordan took a career-best five for 29 as Sri Lanka lost their last six wickets for nine runs in six overs after England captain Alastair Cook won the toss and fielded first in overcast conditions.

There were exactly 26 overs left when Jordan had Lasith Malinga lbw for two to end the innings. Sri Lanka posted only three double-figure scores, Kumar Sangakkara top-scoring with 13. The five-match series is level at 1-1.

Brief Scores:

Sri Lanka 67 in 24 overs (Kumar Sangakkara 13; Chris Jordan 5 for 29, James 2 for 2) vs Sri Lanka.
