Sri Lanka and West Indies will lock horns in the second and final Twenty20 International (T20I) of the two-match series on Wednesday at R Premadasa stadium, Colombo. West Indies lost the first T20I played on November 9 by 30 runs. Earlier, they were comprehensively beaten in the Test and ODI series as well. It is necessary for West Indies to win this final match of their tour to Sri Lanka to salvage some pride. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would like to keep the winning momentum going and end the tour in style. Sri Lanka will want to be ruthless and if they win this match as well, it shall complete a full whitewash of this series. With it, they will win seven matches (two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is) on a trot in this series and this is exactly what the subcontinent nation will aim to achieve. The toss will play an important part and the team winning it would ideally like to bat first if rains are not around the corner. However, rains may affect the game and clouds with showers are expected. West Indies, who decided to field first in the last T20I, let Sri Lanka post a mammoth total of 215. They buckled under pressure, although they came close to chasing it. The pitch may provide assistance to bowlers but it can typically also be a high-scoring encounter as witnessed in Pallekele, where a little less than 400 runs were made. Sri Lanka will wish that Tillakaratne Dilshan, who batted exceedingly well by slamming 56 off just 37 balls in the first T20I, keeps his batting form going in this match as well. Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, and Kieron Pollard failed with both bat and ball in the last game. It is imperative for West Indies that they contribute in this match since they are the team’s backbone as far as T20 cricket is concerned. For West Indies, only Sunil Narine bowled economically in the last encounter but it is wickets that the team needs most from his bowling. Visitors have to remain wary of Sri Lankan spinner Sachitra Senanayake who completely decimated them in the last encounter. Sri Lanka will stick to their winning combination but we may see a few changes for West Indies. Skipper Darren Sammy might think of picking Samuel Badree and Darren Bravo in the playing XI.
