Sri Lanka are well and truly on top after they managed to restrict West Indies to 66 for 2 at the end of second Day’s play in the first Test at Galle. West Indies still trail Sri Lanka by 418 runs as the hosts were dismissed fo 484 in their first innings. Dimuth Karunaratne and Dinesh Chandimal were the stars with the bat for Sri Lanka. Karunaratne scored 186 and Chandimal scored 151, which helped Sri Lanka reach an excellent total. Rangana Herath then sprung his web to get rid of West Indies openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope cheaply. Sri Lanka will be confident ahead of day’s play as they already have West Indies on the back foot. West Indies still need 219 runs to avoid the follow on. Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo was the star for the West Indies with the ball, picking up four wickets for 143 runs. Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews also made a useful contribution of 48 in the middle-order. Although he has not nowled an over yet, he certainly could be handy if he decided to do so. Along with Herath, the form of Tharindu Kaushal too could be a key factor in determining the outcome of the match. Kaushal had a good series against India and he will be keen to continue his form in this series as well.
