Day One turned out be a rollercoaster ride that saw both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe take and lose control of the match. Ervine, along with Sikandar Raza, revived the situation, putting up an 84-run partnership that took the team past 150. Ervine and the lower middle order played the sweeps and reverse sweeps to great effect and scored at a brisk rate.
