David Warner played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2014 to 2021. He was the captain of the team from 2015 to 2021. In his 8 seasons with SRH, Warner scored 4,490 runs in 139 matches at an average of 37.78 and a strike rate of 141.73. He also scored 5 centuries and 34 half-centuries for the team.
Warner led SRH to their only IPL title in 2016. He was also the Orange Cap winner in the 2015 and 2017 seasons.
In 2021, Warner was sacked as captain of SRH and was also dropped from the team. The reasons for his sacking were not officially disclosed, but it was widely believed that it was due to his poor form in the first half of the season.

Warner was later picked up by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2022 IPL auction.
