South Africa recovered from an early jolt to reach 107 for the loss of one wicket after 29 overs on the opening day of the fourth and final Test against England at Centurion. Stephen Cook was batting on an impressive 46 off 91 balls on debut, finally earning a call into the national side, with Hashim Amla batting on 34 at the other end for company. The duo have put on a stand worth 72 runs so far, which England will be desperate to break in the second session if they are to restrict the hosts to a modest total. Dean Elgar was the only casualty for South Africa in the morning for a score of 20, with Moeen Ali getting the breakthrough. Elgar came down the track and looked to push the ball towards the leg-side, but it was James Taylor‘s brilliance at short-leg that proved fatal for the batsman as he held on to another stunner. South African skipper AB de Villiers managed to win his second consecutive toss earlier in the morning at the SuperSport Park. Electing to bat, de Villiers announced as many as five changes to the South African team. Cook got his debut by replacing the out-of-form Stiaan van Zyl, with Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy replacing Dane Vilas and Faf du Plessis. Kyle Abbott returns to the playing XI for the first time since the first Test, replacing the released Hardus Viljoen for the same, while Chris Morris was dropped in favour of Dane Piedt. England’s only change was that of Chris Woakes coming in place of the injured Steven Finn, who was ruled out due to a side strain.
