Australia and Bangladesh are set to face other in the two-Test series starting from August 27 at Dhaka. While preparations are at full swing in both camps, Australia’s Steven Smith believes Ashton Agar can come handy with both bat and ball against the subcontinental side. Smith went a step ahead and added that the 23-year-old left-hander is capable to bat anywhere in the top 6. These encouraging words would surely keep Agar in good stead ahead of the series opener.

“I think he could certainly end up in the top six, I think he’s got that ability. Right now I’m not sure, he’s probably playing mainly as a spinner who can bat a bit, somewhere like where I started probably. But I think he’s certainly got the capability to bat in the top six at some point. He’s a different sort of batter; he’s got a very free-flowing and unique swing,” Smith was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.

Australia’s last assignment in whites was in India and conditions will be similar in Bangladesh. Visitors are set to train in Darwin before flying to Fattulah. “The training camp in Darwin will be a good one for us … we’ll be able to look at a few guys and see how they’re going. That’s a good opportunity for a few guys to put their best foot forward”, concluded Smith.
