Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens feels that Ben Stokes is very similar to England star batsman Kevin Pietersen and the former can reach great heights in international cricket if given an opportunity in the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series.
Stevens feels Stokes’ excellent batting skills and good experience in County cricket will be helpful for the budding cricketer to perform on the highest platform.
He said, “I think he is a fabulous player. He reminds me of a young Pietersen. KP was a bully and Stokes is similar; he is a big lad and he has an aura when he stands there.”
Stokes has been a substitute of Pietersen who has been rested in the ongoing 5-ODI series.
“He stands there and hits the ball so hard for a young lad. For his sake, I hope he can stay fit because he is a sensational player. For him, if he can stay fit and get his bowling going, it just gives him that extra string to his banjo,” added Stevens.
