The opening game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 between New Zealand and Sri Lanka faced a brief interruption when a streaker invaded the playing field at the Hagley Oval at Christchurch on Saturday. The nude person was later tackled by the stewards present at the venue, with the game being resumed within a few minutes. The incident, according to some, was met with laughter and applause. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, were reeling at a score off 224 for the loss of nine wickets at the end of 44 overs, with Rangana Herath and Suranga Lakmal batting on scores of 10 and three respectively. Daniel Vettori, Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Adam Milne took two wickets each as the Kiwis destroyed the Sri Lankan batting order, which was cruising at a score of 124 for the loss of one wicket at one stage. New Zealand earlier finished on a score of 331 for the loss of six wickets at the end of their quota of 50 overs.
