India and Australia are currently preparing for the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to begin December 14 at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane. After the Adelaide Test and the series being levelled 1-1, the upcoming match will be important for both the teams to take the lead in the ongoing five-match Test series.
Team India had won the last two series in Australia, and will look for a hattrick of Test series win on Australian soil. The ongoing series is important for India as it will have a direct impact on their chance of entering the World Test Championship (WTC) finals.
Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist have made a prediction about the outcome of the upcoming Gabba Test. The duo believed that Australia will defeat India and take the lead in the ongoing series. Matthew even stated that India’s batting lineup might struggle in Brisbane, especially considering the pitch conditions in Gabba.
“I’m aligning with Australia. India, I think, will struggle with the bounce and pace of this wicket again. But I do think it’s going to be a close game. Still, I’ve got Australia to win,” Matthew said while speaking on SEN Breakfast.
“I do (think Australia can go up 2-1). And I’m tipping a Marnus hundred,” said Gilchrist.
