England all-rounder Stuart Broad is likely to miss the fourth and final Test match against India at Nagpur after suffering a recurrence of the heel injury, and if he fails to recover in time, left-handed Eoin Morgan will take over the captaincy job in the two-match Twenty20 series.
According to the Telegraph, Graeme Swann, who stood in for Broad as the England captain in T20 cricket, was earlier rested for the T20 series in India and thus Morgan will take over the captaincy role.
Broad was named Test captain Alastair Cook’s deputy, but he failed miserably in the first two matches of the four-Test match series, and was subsequently dropped in favour of Steven Finn for the third Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The tourists, who are ahead in the Test series by 2-1 had a split net session at Nagpur stadium on Tuesday morning and Broad was part of the first group.
The all-rounder went for treatment with the England medical staff after having a recurrence of the heel injury, due to which his participation was not confirmed for the first Test.
The report also added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned the groundsmen to speak to the media, after MS Dhoni’s spat with the Eden Gardens’ curator Prabir Mukherjee.
