The beleaguered West Indies team touring England may have some relief as Sunil Narine is set to join the squad for the third Test against England. The mystery spinner would replace fast bowler Kemar Roach who picked up a shin injury.

Narine’s addition would bolster the West Indies squad, although Roach’s departure would be a huge loss. If selected, the third test would be Narine’s first as he was playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the Test series against Australia and the first two Tests against England.

On losing Roach, West Indies coach Ottis Gibson said, “”We still have an awful lot of cricket to play this year and we did not want to risk losing as valuable a player as Kemar for a long period. He has been outstanding with the ball for us so far this year and we are all gutted by his departure.”

The physio CJ Clark was quoted by Cricbuzz as saying, “”Kemar has been carrying this soreness for the last two matches and in view of our upcoming schedule, we would like him to have the time to recover and prevent the onset of a more serious injury.”
