Gujarat Lions decimated Mumbai Indians target of 173 runs in just 17.5 over as their batsmen made full use poor bowling by Mumbai bowlers. Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina massacred Jasprit Bumrah and co. in their 96 run stand for the second wicket to rocket their team a 6-wicket victory. McCullum turned out to be the aggressor in the partnership making 48 runs off 27 to give the Lions a prolific start. Raina went on to notch up his second consecutive IPL half-century. Raina almost matched McCullum boundary for boundary. After the fall of McCullum and Raina it was Dwayne Smith who continued hammering MI to guide his team to an comfortable yet resounding win. Gl got of to a bad start losing in-form Aaron Finch in the very first over to Vinay for a 2-ball duck. It was then all about McCullum and Raina who went gaga at Green Park, hitting boundaries at will. It was Harbhajan Singh who struck picking up McCullum on 48 from 27 balls to hand his team some hope. Dinesh Karthik continued with his bad form with the bat getting out on just 3 runs to Vinay. Raina was the fourth wicket to fall as Bumrah nabbed his first wicket. Smith went on doing business as usual milking bowlers. Smith remained not-out on 37* along side Ravindra Jadeja 21* who played second fiddle in the partnership. Smith and Jadeja added 51* runs for the fifth wicket in just 5.3 overs. For MI it was Vinay who bowled well , picking up 2 wickets in his 3 overs, with Bumrah and Singh picking wicket apiece.

Earlier, batting first Mumbai Indians could only manage 172 runs with Nitish Rana performing well for them. Rana secured his first ever IPL fifty, received help from Jos Buttler. Buttler and Rana 75 run stand which formed the backbone of Mumbai’s batting. Buttler made 31-ball 33 while Rana made a 36-ball 70. Dwayne Bravo, Praveen Kumar, Dhaval Kulkarni and Dwayne Smith picked up two wickets each to star for GL.
