Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik are striving for victory in Indian Premier League (IPL 2016) Match 25 between Gujarat Lions (GL) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum gave GL the ideal start but fell soon after getting to their respective fifties. They gave GL a flying start which they desperately needed as they were chasing a heft target of 196. McCullum made a brisk 43 off just 22 balls before he was dismissed by Rajat Bhatia. He hit five boundaries and two sixes in his innings. McCullum and Smith struck a 93-run first wicket stand. Smith continued to bat at a quick pace and went past his fifty. He was cleaned up by Thisara Perera for 63 runs having faced just 37 deliveries. He struck nine boundaries and a six in his knock. After 11 overs, GL reached 116 for 2. Karthik was the new man at the crease. Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling at the other end but even he was taken on by the opposition. He went for 22 in his first two overs. Ashwin came to bowl his third over which was the 12th of the innings. Karthik took a single and brought his captain Suresh Raina on strike. Raina played a dot and picked up another single. It was a good over for RPS, just five runs came from it. GL then needed 75 from 48 balls. Raina and Karthik were batting on seven and four respectively at that time.
