Just when Virat Kohli achieved a record to his name, Suresh Raina takes back the crown as highest run-scorer in IPL as he holds 4,012 runs. Last night Kohli ended his innings with score of 4,002 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 82-runs, that has lead them to No.2 spot. On Thursday, Gujarat Lions (GL) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are battling it out to earn their spot in Playoffs. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have already achieved the same earlier. KKR have set up target of 124 as Dwayne Smith restricted KKR with his figures of 4 for 8. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Gujarat Lions vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2016, Match 51 at Kanpur
The KKR openers in the form of Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir were off to a slow start, as with just 23 runs added to the total, it was Gambhir, who was unfortunately run out for mere eight by Jakati in the fourth over. With just 11 runs added to the total, it was Manish Pandey, who fell for a mere single to Dwayne Smith, after being caught by Raina in the fifth over. Wickets kept tumbling for KKR and their new batsman Jason Holder could not up a better show replacing their middle order crisis man Andre Russell. This becomes an important game for both teams and with the way GL are charging now with 78/3 in 7.4 overs with skipper Raina and Finch adding the finishing touches.
After Raina, Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir and Chris feature in the top 5 highest run-scorers. Now Kohli will have to chase down the total set by Raina here on.
