Indian middle-order batsman Suresh Raina has been named captain of the Uttar Pradesh team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting September 19 in Delhi.

Raina, 31, who last played an ODI for India in England earlier this year and was omitted from the Asia Cup squad will look to push his case for a recall with good showing in Vijay Hazare, India’s domestic List A competition.

Raina leads the 16-member squad comprising India U-19 star and Kolkata Knight Riders‘ Shivam Mavi and India A regular, pacer Ankit Rajpoot.

Rinku Singh, who was roped in by the Knight Riders in the last edition of the IPL, has also been included in the squad. UP are in Group B will begin their campaign against on September 20 at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
