Delhi team wins a low-scoring match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2015-16 despite a stupendous performance by Goa’s Shadab Jakati who took 5-wickets for 17 runs. Batting first, Delhi put up a very poor performance as the team went on losing wickets in quick succession. Only three of the players managed to score double-digit runs, Milind Kumar being the highest run-getter with his 19 runs. The other two players were opener Unmukt Chand ( 15 off 11) and Shivam Sharma ( 12 off 14). Skipper Gautam Gambhir failed as he scored 4 off 12 deliveries and the team got all out at 91 with 4 balls still remaining. Full Cricket Updates, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2015-16

Jakati first dismissed No 4 Aditya Kaushik and later picked up Pawan Negi, Akash Sudan, Shivam Sharma and Subodh Bhati to complete his 5-for with an economy of 4.25. This was the fifth 5-for of the season. Despite of the brilliant bowling, Goa failed to win the match as the batsmen failed miserably not being able to reach the target of 92. The two batsmen who scored in double-digits were Swapnil Asondar and S S Bandekar. Bandekar scored 31 ball 28 and remained unbeaten but unfortunately saw his side lose to the Delhi side by 2 runs.

With the win, Delhi now top the table with win in five matches out of the five they played and have 20 points in hand while Goa haven’t won a single match failing to gather any points and are currently at the bottom of the table.
