Opener Shagun Kamat scored an unbeaten 39-ball 52 as Goa beat Sikkim by eight wickets in Round 2 of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 Group C match at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Friday.

Chasing a modest target of 101, Goa cantered home in 14 overs with Amit Verma playing the supporting role, scoring 23 off 20 balls. Skipper Amogh Desai departed early in the chase for 12 to Ishwar Chaudhary while Verma was caught and bowled by KN Luitel. Wicketkeeper batsman Keenan Vaz and Kamat then added an unbeaten 36 runs for the third wicket to take their team home.

Earlier, after opting to bat first Sikkim stuttered throughout with opener Bibek Diyali top-scoring with 22. ashish Thapa made 12 while Milind Kumar scored 16. Palzor Tamang hit 19 off 17 down the order to push Sikkim’s total to 100.

For Goa, Lakshay Garg claimed 3/14 in his four overs while Darshan Misal picked 2/19 in his four overs.
