Priyank Panchal‘s all-round performance helped Gujarat beat Uttar Pradesh by 34 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Group A match in Rajkot on April 11, 2014. Electing to bat first, Gujarat made 184 runs for the loss of four wickets and then bundled out Uttar Pradesh for 150 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) stadium in Khandheri.
Panchal made a blistering 77 with 12 fours and a six in his 52-ball knock and then took four wickets, conceding only 19 runs in his four-over spell. He was supported by off-spinner Rujul Bhatt, who finished with three for 15.
Panchal and Rajdeep Darbar (35) added 75 runs for the opening wicket while Chirag Gandi and Rohit Dahiya too chipped in with unbeaten 25 and 23 runs respectively as Gujarat made 184 runs for the loss of four wickets.
Chasing the target, Mukul Dagar was the only batsman, who kept fighting to score 58 runs with 10 fours and a six off 35 balls. Akshdeep Nath (27) and Praveen Kumar (26) fell to the mounting run-rate as Uttar Pradesh were bundled out on the last ball of the match making 150.
Panchal and Bhatt shared seven wickets between them.
