A T20 tournament to promote local talent will be organised in Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) in June featuring four teams – the Carib Bears, Angostura, Petrotrin and Trini Posse teams.
According to a report in NewsDay, the tournament known as the TTCB Powerplay will commence on Jun 22 with Trini Posse clashing with Angostura while the Carib Bears and Petrotrin will face off each other in the second match of the day at Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain.
The organisers launched the tournament with an elaborate ceremony on Monday, where the captains and the format of the competition were revealed.
Justin Guillen will lead Trini Posse while West Indies cricketer Darren Ganga will be in charge of the Petrotrin squad; Rayad Emrit will be captaining the Angostura team and Samuel Badree will lead the Carib Bears.
The organisers announced $30,000 reward for winning team while the runner-up will earn $15,000. The third and fourth place team will get $8000 and $3000 respectively.
The tournament will span over three days which will also feature the touring India A team taking on West Indies A in two matches, one on June 23 and the second clash on Sunday succeeding the final bowl off of the tournament.
