England batsman Jason Roy and Women’s wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor have posted on social before their respective semi-final clashes. This is the first time in their history that both the Men’s and the Women’s team are in T20 World Cup semi-finals of the same edition. The England Women side will take on Australia at Feroz Shah Kotla, after which the Men’s side will have their game against New Zealand at the same venue. Both the teams are aiming to win their 2nd World T20 title, with the English Women winning the inaugural trophy in 2009 and the Men’s side winning the trophy very next year. The England men’s side started of their campaign with a loss against a Chris Gayle inspired West Indies side. They then bounced back strongly, chasing down a record 230 against South Africa thanks to a brilliant knock of 83 by Joe Root. This was followed by a close 15-run win over Afghanistan. In their final game, they confirmed qualification to semi’s, beating Sri Lanka by 10 runs.

The Women’s side had a better group stage, winning all their four games en-route to qualifying top from their group, They started their campaign with a comfortable 36 run win over Bangladesh, before a close 2-wicket win over India while chasing down 91. They then confirmed their qualification with a last ball win over West Indies. Their final group match saw them comfortably beating Pakistan by 68 runs.
