A video posted on Facebook by the International Cricket Council (ICC) sees Virat Kohli speak about winning the Player of the Tournament in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2016. Kohli, who managed to steer India into the semi-finals, was chosen as the best player for the tournament ahead of England’s Joe Root. India reached the semi-finals of the competition, before losing out to eventual winners West Indies. Kohli was key to India’s road to semi’s, as he played match-winning knocks against Pakistan and Australia in the Super-10’s. He ended the tournament with 273 runs from 5 innings, at an staggering average of 136.50. He also scored 50+ runs in three games in the tournament. The star India batsman who also received the award in the 2014 edition of the T20 World Cup said that it is a good feeling to win it on a personal note. But Kohli felt disappointed not to be able to win the World Cup in spite of reaching so close in both the tournaments. He felt that the format is such that anything can happen on any day. The dashing right-handed batsman also said that it was a mixed feeling for him as he sat at home and watched the finals and didn’t expect that the award would be given to him. He felt ‘proud’ and ‘sad’ at the same moment.
