Tamim Iqbal scores most centuries in ODIs for Bangladesh in 3rd ODI vs Afghanistan

As Bangladesh take on visitors Afghanistan in the third One-Day International (ODI) of the series, team’s star batsman Tamim Iqbal scores his seventh ODI hundred, thus becoming the batsman with most number of centuries for his country. Earlier the record for maximum centuries was held by both Tamim and Shakib Al Hasan as they both had six centuries each in the format. Ironically, Shakib was at the other end as Tamim got to his century in the much crucial final match of the series. Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first. The start for Bangladesh was not as fruitful as they lost their opener Soumya Sarkar soon. Sarkar has been long struggling with his form and his struggle continued. Tamim remained consistent as ever. He built on the much-needed partnership with Sabbir Rahman and playing with a calm mind, took team’s score to 100. Afghanistan could not take any other wicket since the one of Sarkar and Tamim and Sabbir made sure things go in their favour.

Afghanistan finally had the success they were looking for as they got Tamim for a run-a-ball 118, bringing an end to a marvelous innings. The batsman hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in the innings.

Tamim’s dismissal changed the equations for Bangladesh though, as they kept on losing wickets regularly. From 212 for 3, they got to 235 for 6 within 6 overs.
