Team India is currently on a tour of England. While the men’s team is playing a five-match Test series against England, the women’s team is seen playing a T20 series against the host’s women’s team. Talking about the Indian women’s team, they have played two T20 matches against England so far and have won both.
The third T20 match between India and England will be played on July 4 at Kennington Oval in London. In this match, Team India will be eyeing a special achievement. If Team India wins the third T20, then it will win the T20 series against England for the first time.
Till now, Team India has not won a T20 series against England even once. The only match between these two teams was played in Derby in 2006. Apart from this, they have faced defeat in T20 series at home and in England. The good thing for Team India in this series is that all their players are in great form. In the first two T20s, Team India has defeated England due to lethal batting and aggressive bowling.
Talking about the first match, Indian team opener Smriti Mandhana played a stormy innings of 112 runs, due to which they scored 210 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs while batting first. Apart from Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol played an innings of 43 runs. In reply, the England team was all out for 113 runs. Nat Sciver Brunt scored 66 runs but she failed to lead her team to victory. Sri Charani took 4 wickets for India. Following this, in the second match, Team India won by 24 runs. Amanjot Kaur played an unbeaten innings of 63 runs for the team while Jemima Rodrigues also scored 63 runs. In reply, host England could score only 157 runs.
If England has to make a comeback in this series, then it is very important for them to win the third T20. The team has excellent players but so far they have failed to leave their mark. The biggest problem for England is their opening order. Sophia Dunkley and Danny Watt-Hodge have not been able to score big in this series so far. Not only this, the bowlers will also have to put pressure on the Indian batsmen by bowling brilliantly.
