The Indian cricket team will return to home on Wednesday after ending their tour of Sri Lanka on a high, winning the one-off Twenty20 international at the Pallekele International Stadium.

Irfan Pathan bagged three wickets and Virat Kohli scored a fluent 68 as they guided India to their fifth win on the tour, by 39 runs on Tuesday.

The Indian side emerged victorious in the five-match One-Day International series as well, with a commanding score line of 4-1.

“Going home today! Can’t wait to be back with family and ofcourse bruno the beagle :D,” tweeted Virat Kohli, who had tremendous success on the tour.

Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin wrote on Twitter, “Been a good series. And now really look forward to get back home. couple of hours to go. Colombo and then Madras.”

Suresh Raina expressed the wish to carry the good run.

“To leave for home after a successful tour is such a happy feeling! Thanks for all your wishes. Hope to carry on with the form,” he wrote.

Right-handed Kohli was India’s most successful batsman in the ODI series, garnering 296 runs in five matches, at an average of 74.

Among the bowlers, Pathan bagged eight wickets in five games to emerge as the top performer for the tourists.
