Australian selectors have been ridiculed for their team selection ahead of the 2017-18 Ashes. The hosts will be eager to regain the urn from England. Hours after the team for the first two Tests was announced, former cricketers Stuart MacGill, Tom Moody and Damien Fleming have lashed out at Trevor Hohns and co.
MacGill in his series of tweets mentions: “How about we pick a player who can do the job he’s selected for. Forget Ferry McFerryface, let’s vote on the idiots that pick the Australian cricket team. If Nevill isn’t being selected because he doesn’t score enough runs then perhaps the Australian captain should remember the day he was first selected for an Ashes series.”

Tom Moody also tweeted: “I understand selection can be challenging but for some reason we seem to over complicate it when the summer comes around.”

This all comes after the inclusion of Tim Paine ahead of Peter Nevill and Matthew Wade. Top performer from the India and Bangladesh Test series, Matt Renshaw has also conceded his place to Cameron Bancroft, while Shaun Marsh has been retained. Chhad Sayers too makes it to the 13-man squad.
