IPL 2025 has been full of surprises, with underdog teams stepping up. While the favorites were expected to dominate, it’s the underrated sides that are now strong contenders for playoffs qualification.

Punjab Kings ahve been one of them who had been trying to win their first IPL trophy. However, despite their strong performance, they are currently at the fourth position after 44 games this season, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary made a grim prediction, stating that PBKS wait for a trophy will continue in 2025.

The IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) was abondoned due to rain, with both team securing one point each. The former KKR batter Manoj Tiwari accused Ricky Ponting of ignoring Indian Players and picking Glenn Maxwell, who hasn’t look good in this IPL saeson.

On Saturday, Prabhsimran Singh played a brilliant knock scoring 83 off 49 deliveries, he got dismissed in the 15th over of the game. Tiwary expected Nehal Wadhera to be sent in at No. 4, as he has proved his ability for both Punjab and Mumbai Indians last season. However, Ponting chose to back Maxwell, whose struggles continued as he was dismissed for seven off 8 balls.

With just 20 balls remaining in the innings and Punjab aiming for a total over 200, Tiwary believed Shashank Singh, a proven finisher, would have been the right choice. However, the franchise unexpectedly backed Marco Jansen at No. 5, followed by Josh Inglis.

“My gut feeling says that Punjab team will not be able to win the #IPL trophy this season because what I saw today when they were batting was, the coach didn’t send Indian inform batters Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh.” Manoj Tiwari tweeted

“Instead he trusted his foreign players to deliver, but they couldn’t and clearly showed lack of confidence in Indian players down the order. If he persists in this way, then the title is far from them irrespective of their qualification in the top two,” he added
