Australia’s spin legend Brad Hogg vented out at England’s ‘Bazball’ as he lashed out at Ben Duckett for his dismissal in ongoing third Test against New Zealand, along with labelling as ‘laughable’.
As New Zealand set an astounding target of more than 650 runs, they took an early advantage by dismissing three players in quick succession. This turned out to put a lot of pressure on England, which might have been a crucial match.
In the whole entirety of the match, Ben Duckett getting dismissed caught everyone’s attention, as he threw away his wicket with a badly-timed shot. Ben’s wicket only increased pressure on England, especially when they were on their way to chase a massive target.
‘Bazball’? more like ‘Laughball’
Tim Southee bowled a length delivery towards the off-stump which caused Ben Duckett to go down the pitch. Ben tried a forceful drive, but his timing was off, and it resulted in an edge onto the stumps. This reckless shot cost him his wicket.
England’s top-order crumpled early, as Zak Crawley also fell to NZ’s bowling attack. This loss of both openers within a short timespan caused a lot of pressure for England as they chased their target.
Brad Hogg took this chance to criticise this approach by England, as he referred to Ben’s dismissal as ‘Laughball’ rather than ‘Bazball’. In a post on his official X account, he elaborated his point and highlighted Duckett’s reckless shot.
“Chasing 650 with 2 & bit days left in the test & your opener is charging the 10th ball of the innings your on a hiding to nothing. There is Bazzball & than there’s laughaball!!!,” Brad wrote on his X.
