Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma continued his impressive form in IPL 2025 and played a brilliant knock of 59 runs from 33 deliveries as the 5-time IPL champions recorded a 12-run victory against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 13.

This was Tilak’s second-consecutive half-century in the tournament and it massively helped his side in posting a mammoth total of 205/5 in 20 overs against DC.

This knock came 2 matches after the left-hand batter was controversially ‘retired out’ in MI’s clash against the Lucknow Super Giants. It was a decision that split the experts and fans as it did not ultimately result in a victory for the side. Tilak finally broke his silence on the matter following the win over DC.

“Nothing. I was just thinking that they made the decision for the team’s purpose. So, I took it in a positive way and didn’t take it in a negative way. But the main thing is how you take it. It’s more important,” Tilak said on Star Sports.

“So I was thinking it that way. I just want to be comfortable wherever I bat. So I told the coach and staff, “Don’t worry wherever you play me, I’m comfortable, and I’ll give my best,” Tilak added.

The victory over DC saw MI climb to the seventh spot with 2 wins in 6 matches. The Mumbai-based franchise will be looking to rack up successive wins for the first time this season when they face-off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede stadium on April 17.
