Throwback: MS Dhoni missed a Match of Duleep Trophy in 2001 Due to car Breakdown

MS Dhoni was set to play for the east Zone in Duleep Trophy 2001. He did not receive the information on time and hence was not able to reach his destination on time. As a result, Dhoni missed the important game earlier in his career.

The Duleep Trophy 2024 starting from September 5 is a must-watch league, since many players who were capped off are to be in action before the beginning of the Tests.

There used to be a time when Duleep Trophy was considered to be one of the most important tournaments within Indian cricket where players also had to perform well in it. MS Dhoni was one of the players to get an early call for Duleep Trophy in his career in 2001.

Though, Dhoni missed out on the tournament. Dhoni came to know about him being called through one of his friends. After he came to know about his call, Dhoni was driving his way to his destination, but the car broke on the way. As a result, Dhoni ended up having to miss this much-important game of Duleep Trophy.

For the next match, he travelled to Pune with the East Zone team where West Zone won the tournament by an innings and 363 runs.
