Due to a finger injury sustained during training, Nuwan Thushara, a bowler for Sri Lanka, will not play in the forthcoming three-match T20 International series against India.
The 29-year-old suffered a left thumb injury on Wednesday during a training session while fielding.
Despite the fact that the injury occurred to his non-bowling arm, it is serious enough to keep him out of the three T20 Internationals, which begin on Saturday.
Dilshan Madushanka, a fellow pacer, has been picked as the substitute.
The injury to Thushara is a serious blow to the hosts. The bowler had been playing well lately; at the T20 World Cup last month, he finished as the team’s top wicket-taker.
With the best figures of 4/18, he had taken eight wickets at an economy of 5.62 in his three games.

After Dushmantha Chameera was forced to withdraw from the squad owing to illness, Thushara became the second Lankan pacer to be ruled out of the series; Asitha Fernando took his place.
