The global sale of tickets for this year’s World Twenty20, to be held in Sri Lanka, started on Friday and would be available for as cheap as US$ 0.25 for group games and between US$ 2.50 and US$ 45 for the final.
The tickets can also be bought online from the ICC’s website and buyers must produce a receipt confirming their purchase to redeem their match ticket at the box office.
Ticket collection will take place from August 1.
A maximum of four tickets can be purchased by each person for the super eights, semifinals and finals, and a maximum of six tickets per person for the rest of the matches.
The low prices of the tickets comes after the recent ticket fiasco during the Sri Lanka and England Test series in the Island nation, where the tickets were highly priced and left the fans of both the teams fuming.
Hosts Sri Lanka will take on Zimbabwe in the tournament opener on September 18.
Entry to the group games of the Women’s World Twenty20 championship will be free of charge. The women’s semifinals and finals are scheduled on the same day and ground as the men’s games and will be covered by the same ticket.(PTI)
