Sri Lanka‘s hard-hitting opener Tillakaratne Dilshan, who pulled a calf muscle in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 semi-final against India, was on Friday ruled out of the upcoming tri-series in the West Indies, starting on June 28.
While batting against India in the second semi-final on Thursday, Dilshan limped off the field after suffering a muscle tear trying to flick the ball on to the leg side.
According to the Sri Lankan team spokesperson, scans revealed Dilshan had suffered a second degree tear and has been advised four to six weeks of recovery time.
Dilshan’s replacement is likely to be announced on Friday and a player from the Sri Lanka A team, which is currently touring the Caribbean, could be named.
