Northern Titans started superbly on Thursday in the final round as they try to snatch the South African SuperSport Series title from leaders Western Cape Cobras.
Titans declared at 473/9 in Centurion thanks to centuries from Faf du Plessis (157) and Heino Kuhn (128) with Henry Davids (73) and Martin van Jaarsveld (50) also posting significant returns.
Bottom-of-the-table Coastal Dolphins were reeling at 5/2 after 1.4 overs in response with openers Imraan Khan and Divan van Wyk and Daryn Smit all out for a duck.
Titans trail Cobras by 0.68 of a point and the Cape Town team had less joy at Wanderers as Highveld Lions reached 228/4 by the close of a rain-interrupted day after being put in to bat.
National team batsman Alviro Petersen (93) and Gulam Bodi (73) were the chief tormentors for the fourth-place Lions while the two wickets captured by Cobras spinner Dane Piedt cost 109 runs.
Central Knights were all out for 240 in Port Elizabeth and hosts Eastern Cape Warriors were 79/2 by the close. Johan van der Wath (79) top scored for the visitors while Gurshwin Rabie (4-69) was the leading wicket-taker.(AFP)
