As the last round of the league fixtures gets underway, VB Thiruvallur Veerans and Chepauk Super Gillies will face each other in the 25th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). Both the Veerans and Gillies are coming into the game after confidence-boosting wins in their last matches. With a desire to end the league games, with 10 Points, both teams will want to go into the playoffs on a high note, with momentum in their bags. While Veerans won their last match against Lyca Kovai Kings by just 2 runs, Super Gillies managed to get a clincal 55-run win against Madurai Super Giants. Therefore, it can be expected to  a high-quality game. READ: TNPL 2016: Players to watch out for

The Super Gillies will be relying on their openers Thalaivan Sargunam and Gopinaath to take them off to a flying start. Sargunam was excellent ion the last game, scoring 73 off 46 balls, with 7 fours and 4 sixes in his knock. They would also be expecting some valuable runs from Sathiamoorthy Saravanan and Rajagopal Sathish, as they have been splendid with their contribution throughout the tournament for the Gillies.

Yo Mahesh and Antony Dhas, will be vital with their all-round abilities as well. Dhas has ten wickets in the TNPL so far and has been a talent worth-watching. Even skipper Sathish has been exemplary. The team though, won’t have it all easy against Veerans.

Veerans have been impressive until now. They have relied on Baba Aparajith for most of the tournament and he has lived upto expectations as well. Aparajith has scored 293 runs so far and been brilliant. R Kavin and Hari Nishanth have played well in instalments. Veerans would want them ot hit top form before they head into the play-offs.

In the bowling department they (Veerans) will be relying on Ramalingam Rohit, Rahil Shah and Lakshmi Narayanan. All three of them bagged two wickets each in the last game. Rohit has eight wickets in the TNPL so far and he will be expected to deliver again for his team. The experience of Malolan Rangarajan and Rahil Shah has been very useful for the Veerans as well. All in all, the team looks good.

A fine battle might be on show with Aparajith and Sathish on the opposite sides. Both Sathish with the ball, and Aparajith with the bat have been really influential for Veerans. Fans can expect a good contest therefore.
