After success of Tamil Nadu Premier League in 2016 it is back with much more glitz and glamour in 2017. The 2017 edition was kicked off after TNCA member N Srinivasan launched a new trophy for this season during a felicitation ceremony for the Tamil Nadu players. Much like the Indian Premier League, TNPL also had an auction, that took place on June 23. Coaches, players and stuff member went from one team to another much to the jubilation of their respective fans. A lot of former players are associated with various teams in the TNPL this year. The tournament will start from June 22 and go on till August 21. The matches will take place across Chennai, Tirunelveli and Dindigul.
Former South Africa cricketer Lance Klusener will coach Lyca Kovai Kings, while his teammate Jonty Rhodes will join Ruby Kanchi Warriors as mentor. Ruby Kanchi Warriors coach is former India paceman Tinu Yohannan. Another legend of the game, Muttiah Muralitharan will act as a mentor for the VB Thiruvallur Veerans franchise. Defending champions too have former India cricketer Lakshmipathy Balaji as their bowling coach. Seasoned T20 coach across the world, Robin Singh will head Karaikudi Kaalai.
