Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has emerged as a potential successor to chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch, as Cricket Australia begins their ''global search'' for a coach to replace Tim Nielsen.

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has emerged as a potential successor to chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch, as Cricket Australia begins their ”global search” for a coach to replace Tim Nielsen.
Moody has denied applying for any job opening at CA, but The Herald reported that the former cricketer has formally applied to become Australia’s new chairman of selectors.
The Don Argus review had suggested that Australia must have a full-time chairman of selectors.
Moody has joined former Test players Geoff Lawson, Trevor Hohns and Dean Jones for a job in Australian cricket, which CA’s new cricket manager Patrick Howard needs to assess.
Meanwhile, former Test cricketer Rod Marsh has also applied for the job, but it is said that he has applied for a part-time role. The unsuccessful applicants for head selector can also contest for two part-time berths on the five-man panel.
Moody played eight Tests and 76 ODIs for Australia, and since his retirement in 2001, he has been working as a coach for different teams.
He guided Sri Lanka to the final in 2007 World Cup, and also worked as a coach of English county Worcestershire.
