FORMER India cricketer Anil Kumble opened up on India vs Pakistan clash suggesting the team to face Pakistan like any other team. India and Pakistan will face each other in Asia Cup and the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.
Kumble also recalled the immense pressure and expectations against Pakistan during his playing Days saying that lose even to Kenya but not to Pakistan.
“In our times, the word was ‘lose even to Kenya but not to Pakistan’. There was pressure and expectation on the players. That’s how the matches between India and Pakistan are being played and the key is to treat it as just another match,” Kumble said.
In Asia Cup 2023, arch-rivals will face each other on September 02 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
Whereas in ODI World Cup 2023, India and Pakistan will face each other at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which will be played on October 14.
India opener Shikhar Dhawan also recalled his experience against Pakistan. The 37-year old batter said that playing against Pakistan is a satisfying feeling when the match ends.
“It has always been the case of ‘Whether or not you win the World Cup, don’t lose to Pakistan’ (laughs). But winning the World Cup is also important and by god’s grace hopefully we will. There’s definitely excitement (while playing Pakistan) but also a lot of pressure.
The batter also revealed that the intensity on the field is high but but there’s also some light chat with Pakistan cricketers.
There’s definitely a satisfying feeling playing against them when the match ends. Whenever I have played Pakistan, we have won mostly. The intensity on the field is also high, but there’s also some light chat with them.” Dhawan said.
