Cricketers enjoy a massive fan following and have the tendency to influence thousands. Cricket and politics share a very old bond. In the past, many cricketers have joined politics and on this occasion Indian cricketer, Praveen Kumar becomes the latest member to join the bandwagon. Praveen has joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) ahead of Uttar Pradesh polls. Praveen, after meeting the Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, and told the reporters, “”I have met CM and decided to join the party. I will do whatever is possible for the party.” When asked if he would contest the state assembly polls, Kumar quipped, “I am a kid in this field. As of now I will try to learn it (politics).”

Praveen further spoke highly about Yadav and said that the chief minister has done a lot for the sports development in Meerut and some huge stadiums are under construction at Lucknow and Saifai.
Besides sports, the right-arm medium-pace bowler said, the chief minister has done a lot of work for all round development of the state. Praveen is a domestic giant and has represented India in six Tests and 68 One-Day Internationals (ODIs). It will be interesting to see how Praveen bowls on the new platform. Twitterati has trolled Praveen for this move as social media platforms have become an active place for people to voice their opinion.
