The game of cricket has seen considerable improvement in the state of Uttar Pradesh after UPCA took the intiative like making the selection transparent, the cricket body said on Thursday.
UPCA, in a release, said that ever since they started the policy of having two-day selection trials at different age-group levels, there has been improvement in performance at the U-19 and U-16 levels.
The Board has changed the pattern of the competition and as a result under-16 team reached quarterfinals in 2009-10 and and semifinals in 2010-11.
The U-19 team reached quarterfinal in 2010-11 and the Ranji team reached the final in 2008-2009 and semi-final in 2009-10.
The training camps are being organised to help the players maintain and improve fitness ans special sessions are being held with coaches, trainers, physios and computer analysts. An agreement has been signed in this regard.
The body also takes pride in the fact three players from the state were selected in the World Cup squad and that Suresh Raina and Praveen Kumar are doing well in the Test arena.
UPCA secretary Rajiv Shukla said that efforts are on to complete the construction work at the Green Park stadium and hoped that soon international cricket will return to the state.
