Half centuries from Andri Berenger and Shaiman Anwar propelled UAE to the score of 257 for 9 in the fourth One- Day International (ODI) against Afghanistan in Dubai. Earlier, Afghanistan captain Mohammed Nabi had won the toss and elected to field first. This is a must win game for Afghanistan as they are 2-1 down in the four match series.
Afghanistan got off to a slow yet steady start, but had their first setback in the fourth over when they lost opener Amjad Ali for just three. His partner at the other end had no problems in getting going. Berenger scored a well paced 66 from 72 and he kept one end steady. Krishnachandran Karate (43 off 72) gave as much strike as possible to Berenger while he rotated the strike with great consistency.
Coming in at number five, Shaiman Anwar blasted 50 from 52 with the couple two big sixes, which helped UAE go past 200. Wicket keeper Saqlain Haider and Mohammad Naveed made a quickfire 28 of 37 and 20 of 14 respectively to help UAE reach a formidable total.
Among the Afghanistan bowling, fast bowler Hamid Hassan picked up a five wicket haul while skipper Mohammad Nabi picked up 2 wickets whereas Dalwat Zardan and Samiullah Shenwari picked up one wicket each
Afghanistan will need 258 runs to win to square the series at 2-2.
