After winning three games in a row before this one, St Lucia Zouks have finally succumbed to a 3-wicket defeat in match 24 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 against Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) at St Lucia. With this win TKR jump to third in the CPL 2016 table with 8 points. Zouks on the other hand lie fourth on the table with 8 points in as many games played. Umar Akmal played a sensational innings to take TKR to a win with one over to spare. He hit as many as seven sixes and three fours in his knock of unbeaten 73 off just 35 deliveries. TKR had won the toss and elected t bowl first. They kept picking up wickets at regular intervals, but a late blitz from Darren Sammy ensured that the Zouks put on 167 for 6 on the board. Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the bowlers for TKR with 2 for 34.
IN reply, TKR were in deep trouble at 63 for 5 in the 10th over, but a 51-run stand between Akmal and Anton Devcich brought them back into the game. Akmal also got good support from Sunil Narine down the order, who managed to hit a couple of sixes to relieve the pressure. In the end, TKR got hom easily. This was the last match before the USA leg of the tournament begins. Both teams will look to have a good workout in the USA and return to the Caribbean to play the knockout matches.
