Frontline Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav is now an assistant manager in Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He realised his father’s long-lasting dream of securing a job in a reputed government organisation on Monday. Though he may no longer need the security of a government job (he has, after all, developed into a vital cog in the Indian cricket team), it is surely not a small feat. Umesh has been appointed as Assistant Manager in the Nagpur office. As per reports, he had completed all formalities on Monday before leaving for Sri Lanka to spearhead India’s pace battery ahead of the three-Test series versus Sri Lanka, starting from July 26.

Although it may come as a surprise to many, the talks for his confirmation in the reputed field was doing the rounds for some time.”The talks were on before the Champions Trophy. He had met RBI officials before leaving for England in May. The officials gave a go ahead to his appointment in sports quota, but due to national duties he couldn’t complete (the) formalities,” a source close to the development told the The Times of India.

Umesh had earlier tried his hands on securing a job in Air India in 2008, but things didn’t work out then. Nonetheless, the pacer and his family would be ecstatic with his development.
