International umpire Asoka de Silva has been dropped from umpiring in some key World Cup games.
The Sri Lankan umpire was criticised for giving batsman Gary Wilson out lbw even after reviewing the decision twice in Ireland’s loss to West Indies in Mohali, last Friday.
Asoka de Silva was originally marked for the England-West Indies match on Thursday and third umpire for the India-West Indies game, de Silva will no more officiate these crucial ties.
Instead, he will be the fourth umpire in the Ireland vs Netherlands match on Friday, and will stand as an on-field umpire for the Zimbabwe-Kenya game on Sunday, according to ICC’s revised schedule.
