With talks of holding a Day-Night Test in India doing the rounds, a lot has still to be made certain. Some critical aspects related to the success of the Duleep Trophy which will be held under lights this year, will affect the possibility of the Day-Night Test that is to be played between India and New Zealand. Although, the venue for the Test will be decided after the BCCI makes a decision keeping in mind the weather conditions and the dew factor as well. The decision to hold the Duleep Trophy tournament under lights with the pink ball was made by the BCCI after the recommendations the Sourav Ganguly-led technical committee. The venue will have a big role to play for the Day-Night Test as conditions and visibility will be key when players turns out in whites to play with the pink ball for the first time in India. Kolkata is the most likely looking venue as of now according to a BCCI official though. “Duleep Trophy under lights doesn’t guarantee that India will play a D/N Test at home.There are factors like weather and how the pink ball holds up during Duleep Trophy. If the concept gets a go-ahead, the order of venues can be re-jigged as per conditions,” said the official as quoted by cricbuzz.com.

It was also made certain by the board that top players will also be playing in the tournament. Also the Duleep Trophy will also kick-start India’s domestic season as a number of home Test matches have been scheduled in the calendar.
