Calling them the “sports stars of tomorrow”, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday congratulated the Indian under-19 cricket team which was on Sunday crowned World Champions in Australia.

 

Expressing his happiness at the sterling performance of the young players, Singh in his message said that “You are the sports stars of tomorrow.” 

 

The Indian Under 19 cricket team, led by captain Unmukt Chand, lifted the cup on Sunday. Unmukt scored a magnificent hundred to script victory over formidable defending champions Australia by six wickets in the final on Sunday.

 

This was India U-19s first triumph after Mohammed Kaif and Virat Kohli led their respective teams to victory in 2000 and 2008 editions respectively. (PTI)
