Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday congratulated the under-19 cricket team for winning the World Cup in Australia.

Badal, who is also holding sports portfolio, said it was matter of pride that Indian cricket team has won the trophy for the third time.

India, powered by captain and opener Unmukt Chand’s unbeaten hundred, defeated Australia by six wickets in the final on Sunday at Townsville.

This was India U-19s’ first triumph after Mohammed Kaif and Virat Kohli led their teams to win in 2000 and 2008. (PTI)
